Teachers across Pennsylvania public schools are using AI in more ways than ever, for feedback, lesson design, assessment, and parent communication, but without shared guidance, every educator is navigating it alone, making their own judgment calls about where it helps and where it gets in the way. Most districts don't yet have a common answer to what "appropriate use" even looks like in a classroom, and in the absence of one, inconsistency becomes the default: one teacher's AI-assisted feedback looks nothing like another's, and students and families notice. This session is about closing that gap together.
Where most districts stand right now
Some general principles are starting to take hold: a teacher or administrator stays the final judge of student work no matter what a tool suggests, student data should be minimized and vetted before a tool is adopted, and human connection has to stay central to teaching and feedback. But none of that tells you exactly what your district's classroom policy should say, what's acceptable for a student to use AI for, versus a teacher, or how to talk to parents when they ask. That part is still yours to write, which is what this session is for.
